If you are interested in becoming a commissioner, once a year we hold a new commissioner school and is in the Fall. You must be a registered voter in Calcasieu Parish or be at least 17 years of age, enrolled in a high school or home school program at the twelfth grade level. You must take and pass an open book test that is given at the school. The class will last approximately 3- 3 1/2 hours. If you pass the test, you will be given a certificate at the end of the class. This certificate will be valid until the expiration of the term of the current Clerk of Court. Commissioners are paid for each election they work. If you have questions either email

email your name and address and we will send you a notice when the next class is scheduled. You do not need to register to attend.
