Commissioners:

Commissioner School
If you are interested in becoming a commissioner, twice a year we hold a new commissioner school. Usually in February and August. You must be a registered voter in Calcasieu Parish or be at least 17 years of age, enrolled in a high school or home school program at the twelfth grade level. You must take and pass an open book test that is given at the school. The class will last approximately 3- 3 1/2 hours. If you pass the test, you will be given a certificate at the end of the class. This certificate will be valid until the expiration of the term of the current Clerk of Court. Commissioners are paid for each election they work. If you have questions either email Paulette Dartez, Director of Elections or call her at 437-3558, ext. 123. If you are interested in becoming a commissioner or you may email your name and address and we will send you a notice when the next class is scheduled. You do not need to register to attend. Bring with you a pen and/or a pencil.
We have shortages of commissioners in the DeQuincy and Vinton areas. You do not need to register to attend.

The next New Commissioner Classes will be held August 20, 2013. The class will be on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse in Courtroom A.  You do not need to pre-register. Bring with you a pen and/or a pencil. It is free of charge. There will be an open book test.
