DEADLINES

Register To Vote 

  • Deadline to Register to Vote In person or by Mail - Wed Nov 4, 2020

OPTIONS FOR DISPLACED VOTERS

Vote By Mail

  • Request an absentee mail-in ballot by the prescribed deadlines.

  • Call the Registrar of Voters office at 337-721-4000 or visit GeauxVote.com to UPDATE YOUR ADDRESS so the ballot is delivered to your temporary residence.

  • Be sure to observe deadlines.

Early Voting Dates

  • Friday, Nov 20, 2020 through Saturday, Nov 28, 2020

  • Closed Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, and day after Thanksgiving

 

Early Voting Times

  • 8:30 am – 6:00 pm daily

Early Voting Locations

  • Lake Charles – Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall (DIRECTIONS)

  • Moss Bluff – Calcasieu Parish Library (DIRECTIONS)

  • Sulphur -  Sulphur Law Enforcement Building (DIRECTIONS)

ABSENTEE MAIL IN BALLOT / DROP-OFF OPTIONS

Request Absentee Ballot by completing the Application & Returning:

  • Registered voters can request an absentee ballot two ways:

    • Contact or visit the Registrar's Office (337-721-4000)​

    • Get application online at GeauxVote.com

    • It is highly suggested that voters choosing this method do so as early as possible so that the ballot is received by the Registrar's Office Friday Dec 4 at 4:30pm.

Mailing Absentee Ballots 

  • Must be received in the Registrar's Office by Friday Dec 4 at 4:30pm to be counted.

  • Mailed Ballots can be TRACKED using the GeauxVote.com website.

 

Drop-Off Options

  • For voters who wish to hand deliver a mail-in ballot, please call the Office of the Registrar at 337-721-4000. The office is located on the 2nd floor of the Historic Calcasieu Courthouse.

  • Drop off times: Mon - Fri 8:00 am-4:30pm  (Closed SUN)

  • Deadline for mail in ballot to be received by Registrar - Monday Nov 2

 

ELECTION DAY - Saturday Dec 5

Election Day Voting Times - All Sites

  • 7:00 am – 8:00 pm 

Voting Locations

  • To view a list of updated locations, CLICK HERE.

  • If unsure of your previous precinct, you can SEARCH BY VOTER at the Secretary of State's Geaux Vote site.

  • Due to storm damage and various safety factors, some voting precincts will be at alternate locations.

  • Letters are being mailed out to voters whose precincts have been moved.

  • Residents are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to consider early voting to alleviate the anticipated wait times on Election Day.

  • Ballots are normally available online 2-3 weeks prior to Election date

ELECTION WORKERS ARE NEEDED

Interested in being an Election Commissioner?

  • We are asking anyone that may be interested in becoming a commissioner to call 337-437- 3558  ext.123 or 144.

  • Our Co-Directors of Elections Jean Ann East or Princella Ryan will collect your contact info so that updated school information can be directed to you.

  • Election Commissioners are paid individuals who work the elections, verify identity, and assist voters.

  • Training is provided. Must meet qualifications. CLICK HERE to read.

  • Oversees and executes the elections statewide

  • Provides equipment (voting machines/ballot scanning machines)

Clerk of Court / Historic Calcasieu Courthouse 2nd floor (337-437-3550)

  • Trains and staffs elections with poll workers/commissioners 

  • Oversees and executes the elections parish wide under the LA Secretary of State

  • Manages local logistics/locations of elections in partnership with Calcasieu Parish Police Jury and Registrar of Voters

Calcasieu Parish Police Jury

  • Provides and secures locations/facilities for elections

  • Provides security and supplemental manpower as needed

  • Provides signage, advertising, and equipment as needed
